Proactive, Holistic, and Experienced Financial Planning

Financial decisions are often made one at a time, years apart and with different people. The mortgage may have been a conversation with a broker, super can sit quietly in the background, and insurance is sometimes sorted after something changes at home. Each decision may have made sense on its own. We start by looking at the parts that matter to you together, because that’s often where the most useful conversations begin, and we listen before we suggest anything.

One plan can help those decisions work together rather than compete. Money can be directed with more purpose, gaps become easier to see, and the things you want can become goals with a timeframe and a plan behind them. We’ll listen first, then build holistic advice around your whole life, not one part of it. We can also review it with you as your circumstances change, so the plan keeps reflecting the life you have and the one you’re working towards.

Every financial decision impacts the next

Your Financial Life Is Connected

Great advice starts with understanding the bigger picture. Every stage of life presents new opportunities and challenges, from buying property and changing careers to growing your family, planning for retirement and protecting what matters most. At Ryker, we help connect every piece of your financial world into one clear strategy.

Frequently Asked Questions

We’re invested in your long-term success. What we do is personal, and we take it personally.

Your financial decisions connect, so we consider the parts of your financial life that are relevant to the advice you need:

  • Property & Investing
  • Career & Income
  • Tax Strategy
  • Insurance & Protecting Your Family
  • Super & SMSF
  • Wealth & Investments
  • Life Events & Changes
  • Business & Wealth
  • Legacy & Future Wealth
  • Retirement Planning

This is how we help you make decisions today with your longer-term goals in view.

Everybody’s situation is different, so we listen first, understand what matters to you and explain your options clearly before we make a recommendation.

There’s no cost for the initial conversation, and nothing you need to prepare.

We’ll ask what prompted you to get in touch, what your situation looks like now and what you’d like to be different. We’ll show you how we can help and how working with us runs.

Nothing is signed in that first meeting and nothing is decided for you. If advice isn’t the right step for you yet, we’ll say so; when it is, we map out the next steps together.

It depends on the scope of the work, and the fee is set out in writing before you commit to anything.

Fees follow what’s being done, and they’re agreed before any advice is prepared. Ongoing service, where you want it, is a separate agreement you can end.

There’s no cost for the initial conversation. Before we begin, we set out the work and its cost in writing, so everything is clear.

Your accountant and financial adviser bring different expertise to the same decisions. Your accountant can advise on tax reporting, structures and consequences; we help you plan how cashflow, debt, super, investments and protection work towards your goals. We can coordinate before important decisions.

What an accountant does

  • Prepares and lodges tax returns, BAS and financial statements
  • Advises on tax structures such as companies, trusts and partnerships
  • Manages bookkeeping, payroll and ATO compliance
  • Provides tax advice on the consequences of a transaction

What a financial adviser does

  • Sets a long term strategy across retirement, investing and cash flow
  • Builds wealth from early in a working life, starting with cash flow, a first home and super
  • Recommends specific super funds, investments and personal insurance
  • Operates under an Australian Financial Services Licence, which is required to give personal advice on financial products
  • Handles retirement planning, Centrelink and aged care strategy, and estate planning considerations

Professional roles and authorisations matter. We provide financial advice within our authorisations and work with your accountant for specialist tax advice and lodgements.

Where they work together

  • Tax position. Your accountant confirms your marginal rate, deductions and carried forward losses, which shapes decisions on super contributions, investment structures and the timing of asset sales.
  • Business and entity structures. Your accountant advises on the structure itself and your financial adviser works within it for investments, insurance and succession planning.
  • Cash flow. Your accountant’s figures can help us understand what’s available for debt repayment, protection and longer-term goals.
  • Before key decisions. We can coordinate with your accountant on contributions, asset sales and other material choices in time to consider relevant tax consequences.

No, advice isn’t reserved for a particular balance.

Some useful work happens early, when decisions such as which fund, what cover and what order to do things in can shape the years ahead. Some happens at a turning point, whatever has been accumulated so far.

What matters more than the amount is whether there’s a decision in front of you. If there is, it may be worth a conversation, and there’s no cost for the initial conversation.

That depends on the service you choose. Ongoing advice is where the real long-term value lies. Reviews are set out in that agreement, and we can also talk whenever something changes.

Reviews matter because a plan is built on assumptions, and assumptions change. Income, rules, markets, family, health and what you want from the years ahead can all move.

Between reviews, it can help to talk before a decision rather than after it, whether that’s a job offer, a property or an inheritance.

Online information can help you understand how a strategy works, and that’s a good place to start.

What advice adds is applying it to your circumstances: which of the things you’re weighing up to do first, how one decision may affect another, and whether anything relevant hasn’t been considered yet.

Sometimes advice confirms that what you’ve already worked out suits your situation, and that’s a useful outcome too.

Very much so, and there’s nothing you need to prepare.

There’s no cost for the initial conversation. Tell us what’s on your mind and what you’d like to be different, and we’ll explain how advice works and what happens next.

Nothing is decided in that conversation. Some people use it to work out whether they want advice at all, which is a perfectly good reason to get in touch.
