Changing pay between jobs, a next course or supervisor role, a business of your own and any cover you hold all connect. We’ll help you plan each step, from your next job to a licence of your own.

What we advise on
Imagine illness or injury meant time away from your work: what could keep the bills paid?
Income protection can pay part of your income after a waiting period, subject to policy terms and exclusions and an insurer’s assessment.
Together, we’ll go over life, TPD and income protection cover with you from the insurers willing to consider your work.
Income protection can pay a share of your pre-tax income, and Moneysmart says most policies offer a waiting period between 14 days and two years. When you apply, insurers usually ask about your age and job, so what you do from one job to the next is part of the picture. The insurer decides on applications and claims.
Together, we’ll work through:

When pay changes from job to job, how far could it go towards the life you’d like?
A budget built on the income you can rely on can show what’s left for goals of your own.
We can build one budget with you from the income you can rely on, whichever job it comes from.
Pay in this work can come as wages, casual hours, labour hire or your own invoices, and it can change from one job to the next. We start with what you can rely on and plan anything above it. If you employ a crew, from 1 July 2026 their super must generally reach their fund within 7 business days after payday.
Together, we’ll work through:
Moving between employers or your own invoices, how could your super keep building for later?
Tracing who pays it and planning what you add can show what’s building over a working life.
We’ll map who pays your super on wages, through labour hire and in your own business with you.
An ABN alone doesn’t decide who pays your super. On a contract, a business may still have to pay super if you’re paid mainly for your labour: the ATO asks whether more than half the contract’s value is labour, whether payment depends on a set result and whether the work can be delegated. Under a contract with your own company, trust or partnership, the hirer doesn’t have to pay. An accountant or the ATO can confirm where you stand.
Together, we’ll work through:
Which decisions in your work are worth planning with tax in mind?
Working with an accountant ahead of time can leave fewer surprises when a tax bill arrives.
We’ll plan the tax side of invoices, courses and a growing business with you, alongside an accountant.
Ryker’s financial advisers plan tax and set tax structure and strategy, working alongside your accountant, who prepares and lodges your return. If you invoice for your work, part of each payment may end up owed as tax, so an accountant can estimate what to set aside. Whether a course, tools or licence cost can be claimed is also a question for an accountant.
Together, we’ll work through:
From your next course to a licence of your own, what step would you like to plan?
Costing a step early can show what it asks of your budget and how it fits your goals.
We’ll cost your next step with you and set it out in a financial plan, or Statement of Advice.
Work in demolition and asbestos removal can change over a career, from labouring to certified removal, from wages to an ABN, or from the crew to supervising. Licence classes, certification and who can apply differ by place, so your regulator or training provider can confirm what applies to you. We plan the money side with you.
Together, we’ll work through:
Once you step back from site work, what would life look like for you?
Planning early can open up more choices about when you finish and how those years could look.
We can build your retirement plan with you from super and savings first, with any business value as an addition.
Super and savings can form the base of your retirement income, as what a business could sell for isn’t certain. Preservation age is 60 for anyone born from 1 July 1964, and super can generally only be accessed once you meet a condition of release, such as ceasing employment at 60 or over.
Together, we’ll work through:
Would a home or investment property suit your plans, on pay that changes between jobs?
Repayments tested against a slow stretch can show what a purchase might ask of you.
We’ll test a purchase with you against your slowest stretch of work, and a broker arranges any loan.
A lender decides how it reads casual, labour hire or ABN income, and a broker compares lenders and arranges any loan. Borrowing to invest can magnify losses as well as gains, and the loan must still be repaid if values fall. From 1 July 2027, negative gearing on residential property is limited to new builds, though property held on 12 May 2026 is exempt.
Together, we’ll work through:

Read moreDemolition and removal work takes skill, care and close attention to the rules, and a good crew looks out for one another. It’s careful work that makes a site ready for whatever comes next. We’d like to begin by getting to know you: how your work runs from job to job, what you care about and who matters most to you. From there, we can help you build a plan around the way you’re paid and the life you’d like.
What you earn can go towards more than this month’s bills. It could help with a place of your own, time with the people you love, the next course or a business of your own one day. If someone relies on your income, they can be part of the plan too. Wherever your work leads, we can review your plan with you each year through ongoing advice, with the goals you’ve set in view.
Every financial decision impacts the next
Great advice starts with understanding the bigger picture. Every stage of life presents new opportunities and challenges, from buying property and changing careers to growing your family, planning for retirement and protecting what matters most. At Ryker, we help connect every piece of your financial world into one clear strategy.
Your
Wealth

We’re invested in your long-term success. What we do is personal, and we take it personally.
Your financial decisions connect, so we consider the parts of your financial life that are relevant to the advice you need:
This is how we help you make decisions today with your longer-term goals in view.
Everybody’s situation is different, so we listen first, understand what matters to you and explain your options clearly before we make a recommendation.
Start with your regulator, as licence requirements differ by place and by the type of work. Depending on where you are, an application can ask for things like a registered business, a named supervisor and insurance certificates. Those certificates are for business insurance, which is separate from personal cover.
Points to plan:
We can cost the step with you, and a general insurance broker can explain the business cover.
Your accountant and financial adviser bring different expertise to the same decisions. Your accountant can advise on tax reporting, structures and consequences; we help you plan how cashflow, debt, super, investments and protection work towards your goals. We can coordinate before important decisions.
What an accountant does
What a financial adviser does
Professional roles and authorisations matter. We provide financial advice within our authorisations and work with your accountant for specialist tax advice and lodgements.
Where they work together
Start with the hours you can rely on, rather than your busiest month, and treat anything above them as extra for savings and goals. A buffer can help with the time between jobs.
If you’re casual, Fair Work notes that casuals don’t get most types of paid leave, so that’s worth building in. If you work through labour hire, Fair Work says the labour hire employer is responsible for your pay and entitlements, even though you work for the host. We can build the budget with you from your own payslips.
Your regulator or training provider can confirm what’s required for the role and for where you work, so that’s the first stop. Then there’s the money side:
We can weigh this up with you in your financial plan, so you can decide with the figures in front of you.
That depends on how you’re paid and what you hold. Places to look:
We can plan with you how these fit together, and the scheme or insurer decides any claim.
A general insurance broker looks after the business side, such as public liability, and can tell you what each of those policies does.
Our part is your own cover and finances: income protection, life and TPD for you and anyone relying on you, plus your super and what you pay yourself. We can work through that with you from the insurers willing to consider your work, and the insurer makes the decision on any application.
It can depend on your employer’s industry and the work you do, so two people doing similar work for different employers may not be on the same award. An enterprise agreement, where one applies, takes the place of an award.
Where the national award system applies, Fair Work is the place to check yours. We can plan with you from the pay you get, so your budget and super start from your own figures.
Yes. Your plan can start from when you’d like to leave site work, along with any years of supervising, estimating or training first. If you’re paid by invoice, a business may or may not have to pay your super, so topping it up may be yours to plan.
We’d build the plan on super and savings, with any business sale as an addition, as a sale isn’t certain. You can read more about our retirement advice.
We’re a national service, so you can meet with us by phone or video from anywhere in Australia. We also have offices in three cities:
Yes. A labourer on a first strip-out, a Class B removalist or the owner of a licensed business can all start with us, from wherever things are now.
There’s no cost for the initial conversation. Any advice after that is a paid service, with its scope and fee agreed with you in writing first.
It helps to bring recent payslips or invoices, a statement from your super fund, any insurance policies you have and the course or licence costs you’re weighing up. We can meet in person or online.
