Your salary, any bonus, staff shares or staff rates, and a restructure if one comes, can all connect. We can help you see what depends on your employer and plan what you’d like to build.

What we advise on
Where would you like your years in corporate work to take you?
A plan of your own can set out your goals and show which parts depend on your employer.
Together, we’ll map what’s tied to your job, then plan your goals around what’s yours.
At a bank, insurer or telco, your salary, any bonus, staff shares, staff rates and cover through work can all depend on one employer. Setting them out together shows what’s tied to the job and what isn’t. From there, we can plan your goals with you and set them out in a financial plan, or Statement of Advice.
Together, we’ll work through:
Which decisions around a bonus, shares or a role ending are worth planning with tax in mind?
Talking before the money lands leaves room to time big decisions with an accountant.
We’ll work through the tax side of your corporate pay with you, alongside an accountant.
Ryker’s financial advisers plan tax and set tax structure and strategy, working alongside your accountant, who prepares and lodges your return. A year with a bonus, share sales or a redundancy payment can look very different from a usual one, so it’s worth raising other big decisions early.
Together, we’ll work through:
How far could your salary go if any extra pay had a job of its own?
Building a budget on base salary can show what’s left for your goals and give extra pay a purpose.
We can build your budget with you on base salary, then give any bonus its own purpose.
Salary is the part of corporate pay you can plan around, while a bonus may vary from year to year. If you hold a staff rate, repayments at a lender’s standard rate are worth testing as well. If repayments ever get hard after losing a job, Moneysmart notes that all lenders have hardship teams and that earlier help gives you more options.
Together, we’ll work through:
As your corporate pay changes, how could your super keep up with your plans?
Setting contributions around your current salary can build your balance within the caps.
We’ll go through your contributions, funds and cover in super with you as your salary changes.
Caps are indexed and can change each year, and a higher salary can be a good time to look at what’s going in. When you start a new job, your employer generally pays into your existing super fund unless you choose another; a default fund applies only if you have no fund. If you move your super, you may lose any insurance that comes with your account.
Together, we’ll work through:
How could you keep money coming in if illness or injury meant time away from your corporate role?
Income protection may replace part of your income, subject to the policy’s terms and exclusions and the insurer’s assessment.
Together, we’ll compare cover through work, in super and in your own name, from a wide range of insurers.
Income protection usually replaces a percentage of your pre-tax income, based on your annual earnings in the 12 months before your illness or injury. It’s generally for illness or injury rather than losing a job. Any cover that comes through your employer may not continue once you leave, so it’s worth asking your employer or fund before your last day. The insurer decides on any application and any claim.
Together, we’ll work through:

Could a home or investment property sit in your plans beyond your next role?
Testing a purchase at standard rates and through a break between roles can show what it asks of your budget.
We’ll test a purchase with you at standard rates and through a break between roles, and a broker can arrange any loan.
A lender decides how it reads base salary and any bonus, and a broker can compare lenders and arrange a loan. Borrowing to invest can magnify losses as well as gains, and the loan must still be repaid if values fall. From 1 July 2027, negative gearing on residential property is limited to new builds, though property held on 12 May 2026 is exempt.
Together, we’ll work through:
What could retirement look like after your years in corporate work?
Planning ahead can show what you’d need and your options if the date moves.
We’ll plan your retirement with you from super and savings, whether you pick the date or a role ending brings it forward.
Preservation age is 60 for anyone born from 1 July 1964, and super can generally only be accessed once you meet a condition of release, such as ceasing employment at 60 or over. A role ending late in your career can bring these decisions forward, so we can look with you at how a redundancy payment and any shares you hold could fit.
Together, we’ll work through:

Read moreYour work helps keep people’s money, cover and phones running, and a lot of people rely on it being done well. We’d like to start with you: what you enjoy about your work, who matters most to you and what you’re hoping for. Then we’ll help you build a plan that belongs to you, shaped by your own goals and the life you’d like to lead, at work and at home.
The years you put in can build something of your own at home. That might be a house that feels like yours, time with the people you love, travel you’ve been putting off or more choice about what you do next. Anyone who relies on you can be part of the plan too. Whatever you’re working towards, we can work through it with you, and our ongoing advice clients review their plan with us each year.
Every financial decision impacts the next
Great advice starts with understanding the bigger picture. Every stage of life presents new opportunities and challenges, from buying property and changing careers to growing your family, planning for retirement and protecting what matters most. At Ryker, we help connect every piece of your financial world into one clear strategy.
Your
Wealth

We’re invested in your long-term success. What we do is personal, and we take it personally.
Your financial decisions connect, so we consider the parts of your financial life that are relevant to the advice you need:
This is how we help you make decisions today with your longer-term goals in view.
Everybody’s situation is different, so we listen first, understand what matters to you and explain your options clearly before we make a recommendation.
Yes. Our financial advice and strategies can help you prepare before anything changes. That could mean mapping what depends on your employer, from pay and any bonus to staff shares, staff rates and cover through work, then working out how long your money would last. If you hold a staff rate, we can test your budget at a standard rate, and your lender or insurer can explain its terms.
Income protection is generally for illness or injury rather than losing a job, so we can help you understand what it would and wouldn’t do for you, and what may change with any cover if you leave. If your job does end, our redundancy advice can help with what comes next.
Your accountant and financial adviser bring different expertise to the same decisions. Your accountant can advise on tax reporting, structures and consequences; we help you plan how cashflow, debt, super, investments and protection work towards your goals. We can coordinate before important decisions.
What an accountant does
What a financial adviser does
Professional roles and authorisations matter. We provide financial advice within our authorisations and work with your accountant for specialist tax advice and lodgements.
Where they work together
The terms that apply to you decide, so it helps to map each one and ask who can confirm it:
For tax, the ATO says ceasing employment doesn’t by itself trigger tax on employee share scheme interests held under a deferral scheme, and an accountant can confirm your position. We can bring the answers into one plan with you.
The ATO describes three layers for a genuine redundancy payment. It’s tax-free up to a limit depending on your years of service, concessionally taxed as an employment termination payment above that limit, and taxed at the top marginal rate above certain caps.
Unused annual leave and long service leave paid out when you leave aren’t part of the genuine redundancy payment, and the tax-free part applies only if you’re dismissed before Age Pension age.
Choosing to resign isn’t a genuine redundancy. Putting your hand up in a voluntary round is different, and whether it counts turns partly on your employer making the final decision, so an accountant can confirm its treatment and your figures. We can plan with you what the money after tax could do.
Fair Work says redundancy pay entitlements come from the National Employment Standards, an award or an enterprise agreement, and the amount depends on your continuous service. Its Notice and Redundancy Calculator works through the award and National Employment Standards amounts, and Moneysmart suggests asking your employer what you’re entitled to.
Fair Work says it can’t decide if a redundancy is genuine and suggests considering legal advice. The tax test for a genuine redundancy is separate, and an accountant can confirm how your payment is treated. Once you have your figures, we can work through your budget and goals with you.
It can, because those prices sit inside your household budget. Your employer or the provider sets any staff terms, so it’s worth asking for yours and what they say about leaving.
We can test your budget with you at standard prices, so you can see which costs you could keep comfortably. A home loan can be the largest of these, and a broker can talk through any loan.
Start with what you’d like it to do, because a bonus may change from year to year. Spending that relies on it is harder to keep up in a lower year, so everyday costs usually sit better on salary.
From there, it’s your decision. It could top up a cash buffer, reduce a debt, add to super within the caps or go towards a goal of your own. An accountant can estimate any tax still to come, and we can set out the options with you before it’s paid.
Staff offers can be a genuine benefit, and your employer or the provider can explain how they work. A financial adviser looks at the whole picture with you: your goals, cashflow, super, cover and what depends on your job, with any staff offer as one part of it.
That can help you see how your plans would read if your work changed, and how each decision affects the others. A broker can talk through any home loan, and an insurer decides on any application.
Yes. We can look with you at when you’d like to finish, and what would change if a role ended sooner than you’d planned. A redundancy payment close to the end of a career can shift those dates, so it’s worth seeing how it could fit beside super and savings.
If you hold staff shares, we can also look at how much of your retirement rests on one company, with tax for an accountant. You can read more about our retirement advice.
